We were so excited to welcome the chicks to Blue Gum Cottage.
We all learnt how to care for the newly hatched chicks and the eggs that needed to be kept warm enabling them to hatch. Every morning the children would rush in with their mummy or daddy to see if another chick had hatched.
The ‘playpen’ was a great way for them to see the chicks eat, sleep and play, and the program was a wonderful way for the students to witness the life cycle of the chicken first-hand. It stimulated a lot of interest and engaged them in their learning.
We all had great fun with the chicks and learnt so much, one of our families even adopted 2 of the chicks to have at home.
